Job Description
|
| Vashon Island Fire and Rescue provides a variety of services including fire suppression, emergency medical serice, water rescue, high-to-low angle rope rescue, hazardous materials response, and public safety education. Vashon Island has one station staffed 24 hours and four volunteer stations. Career Firefighters and Paramedics work a four-platoon schedule with one day on, one day off, one day on, five days off, plus 14 debit pays per year and three 12 -hour debits for training. Vashon Island Fire & Rescue covers Vashon and Maury Islands, an area of 45 square miles with 55 miles of shoreline. There are appoximately 1,600 incidnt responses annually. Vashon Isand Fire and Rescue is establishing a list for 2009 hiring should a position become available.

Job Requirements
|
Age 18
Additional Requirement : Candidates must be a graduate of a state fire training academy or a firefighter recruit academy with training to Firefighter 1 level. IFSAC Firefighter 1 certification is preferred. Current WA state Emergency Medical Technician certification is required. IFSAC Firefighter 1 certification is required within one year of hire. Preference points will be added to the final score of current VIFR volunteer members in good standing. Preference points will be added to applicants with IFSAC Firefighter 1 certification.
